A Very Pretty Weekend

This weekend I was fortunate enough to attend the Cover to Cover Conference at Howard University. This conference was for anyone interested in the magazine industry. The conference was really helpful, but the BEST part of the conference was meeting Tia Williams. This is THE woman of beauty in the magazine industry. Of course, I know DC is focused on March Madness, but we can always focus on beauty at the same time. Multitasking is the best thing in the world. Tia is the former Beauty Director of Teen People and the co-writer of Iman's The Beauty of Color. She is also the author of the great book The Accidental Diva. She was so warm, personable and just down right nice. It has to be those Southern roots, since after speaking with her equally fabulous mother, I learned they have roots in Louisiana. This was great news. There is nothing to compare to Southern hospitality. I felt I had met the sister I have never had. Tia could talk with me all day about makeup and I would just never get enough. She even referred me to a new lip gloss. Yes, I know I have bought 4 new lip glosses in the past month, but a girl can never have too many. So, she showed me the YSL Touch Brilliance for Lips #10 - "Starry Havana." Isn't that just a lovely name. I plan to make it to Neiman's this week to pick this one up. Trust me, you can never go wrong with Tia's advice. The minute I discovered her blog, I took my entire weekend and read through every single archive. If you really want to know more about Ms. Tia, please check the link on my blog to her wonderful blog "Shake Your Beauty."
